Mindfulness is often defined as present moment non-judgmental awareness. It is a universal capacity of human consciousness that can be cultivated through training. Over time, this capacity of mind has the potential to become a powerful resource for living life more fully with greater wisdom, insight, kindness, and compassion.

On the first night of the seminar you will experience what mindfulness is about by mindfulness-exercises. When the night is over, you will have a deep knowledge of how mindfulness can affect in your own life.

Mindful Parenting  

Jon and Myla invite you to join them for of exploration of the challenges and joys of bringing greater awareness and presence to parenting. We will explore the ways in which parenting with greater mindfulness can enhance the wellbeing of children and parents.

Find out ways to cultivate the wellbeing of you and your child

Mindfulness can be thought of as openhearted non-judgmental awareness. It can lead to greater empathy, acceptance, and respect for each child’s unique being. It can also help us to navigate more effectively our own fears, anxieties and judgments as parents. Parents and grandparents of children of all ages as well as teachers, and others who work with families and children.

Mindful parenting in practice 

Jon and Myla Kabat-Zinn wrote together a book Mindful parenting. The second night of the seminar is about mindful parenting. During the night you will find out what it really means to be mindful parent and how you can use it in your everyday life. This night is about the audience, about you.

SPEAKERS

We’re more than happy to bring the creator of the Mindfulness-MBSR-program JON KABAT-ZINN and his wife MYLA KABAT-ZINN to Finland. They will give you some concrete tips of how you can use mindfulness on your own life.

JON KABAT-ZINN

Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. is internationally known for his work as a scientist, writer, and meditation teacher engaged in bringing mindfulness into the mainstream of medicine and society.

The creator of MBSR-program

He is Professor of Medicine emeritus at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where he founded its world-renowned Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Clinic (in 1979), and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society (in 1995). 

He retired from his positions at the medical center in 2000. The Center for Mindfulness has been under the leadership of Dr. Saki Santorelli since that time, and during those years, it has grown remarkably and its programs have become more and more influential both in the US and internationally.

Best-selling-author

Jon is the author of two best-selling books: Full Catastrophe Living: Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face Stress, Pain and Illness and Wherever You Go, There You Are: Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life. 

MYLA KABAT-ZINN

Myla Kabat-Zinn, RN, BSN, spent a number of years assisting at births both in the hospital and at home. During those years she also taught childbirth education classes based on mindful awareness.

Coauthor of Mindful Parenting

She is the coauthor, with her husband Jon, of Everyday Blessings: The Inner Work of Mindful Parenting. She has lead workshops on mindful parenting in the United States and in Europe.
